On Friday May 19, the Dutch Anthropological Association (Antropologen Beroepsvereniging) organizes its yearly "Dag van de Antropologie/Anthropology Day”. This year’s theme is Solidarity! Solidarity is a key theme today in a moment marked by various crises induced by war, climate change and economic inequalities. In this interactive day of presentations and discussions, we explore how, in this moment, people find or fail to find common ground. We will not only explore how solidarity may be described and understood in the era of climate change and the refugee crisis, but we’ll also discuss the methodological and ethical challenges of studying and engaging in solidarity (movements).
Check out the website (www.antropologen.nl/dagvandeantropologie) to register for the Dag van de Antropologie/Anthropology Day and join anthropological discussions on 'solidarity' as a concept, phenomenon and method. The program is varied and consists of keynote lectures, discussion workshops on methodology and ethics, paper presentations and workshops on solidarity and a debate about anthropology and activism.
The Anthropology Day 2017 takes place on 19 May, from 9.30-17.30.
Place: Instituto Cervantes, Domplein 3, Utrecht.
